Stornoway Tote Bag

Limited edition Stornoway tote bag, made exclusively by Fernweh for the Scottish Textiles Showcase.

Made using a durable combination of waxed cotton canvas and Harris Tweed®, the bags are finished with oak tanned leather.

Handmade exclusively for us by Fernweh in Aberdeen, these practical bags are designed with longevity and durability in mind. For over 150 years, Halley Stevensons has specialised in weaving waxed cotton from their mill in Dundee, Scotland. Waxed cotton canvas is, as the name suggests, a cotton that has been treated with wax to give it a water resistant finish. With use, the waxed cotton fabric will age, but these markings are an inherent characteristic of the cloth. Please follow the care instructions to maintain the waxed cotton in optimum condition. 

The Harris Tweed® is hand woven with un-dyed wool in the Western Isles of Scotland. Protected by an Act of Parliament, it can only be woven in the homes of the Harris Tweed weavers on the Isle of Lewis and Harris. Look for the Orb label of authenticity inside the bag.

The bags are finished with oak tanned leatherwork from the UK's last oak bark tannery which uses a slow, zero waste process to tan each hide.

The tote bag features a magnetic snap close for extra security and inside there is a double slip pocket with rivet reinforcement.
