Our Edinburgh Store

Nestled amongst a small community of artisan shops in the centre of Edinburgh, the Scottish Textiles Showcase has gained a reputation as a treasure trove for authentic Scottish made goods.  Our knowledgeable staff are always happy to help and advise on the provenance and craftsmanship skills inherent in the beautiful products on our shelves.
Why not visit our store in person? We are at 20 St Mary’s Street, just off the Royal Mile. Alternatively shop online to see our range of gorgeous Scottish products.

  • Kitty Mackenzie designer maker portrait

    Kitty

Founder Director of the Scottish Textiles Showcase and designer of our Harris Tweed scarf collection, Kitty Mackenzie has been a long term champion of Made in Scotland. She enjoys sharing her love of textiles with our customers, encouraging us to shop sustainably and consider our carbon footprint. Kitty also enjoys practising her Italian, French and Spanish with our overseas visitors. Owner of our shop dogs Willow and pup Toto, she invariably has a four legged friend at her feet.

  • Ellen

Ellen joined Scottish Textiles Showcase in September 2021, a year after graduating from Glasgow School of Art, where she studied Printed Textiles. She now produces a range of printed silk scarves which are available to buy in store. Her designs are influenced by the places she has lived and visited; from the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, to Kyoto, Japan where she spent a term studying. Ellen has a background in visual merchandising so she can often be found rearranging the shop and creating window displays.

  • Emma

Emma joined the STS Team in December 2021. Born and raised in County Down Northern Ireland, she graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a degree in Textile Design, specialising in Embroidery, where she also works part time as an Embroidery Technician. Emma travels to the shop from Glasgow and excels at talking textiles with our customers. With an eye for detail, she enjoys a photoshoot day at work, as long as she gets to stay behind the camera! Otherwise she’ll be found getting carried away with the gift wrapping.

  • Kayleigh

Kayleigh, originally from Darlington, now calls Galashiels home in the Scottish Borders. She specialised in Printed Textile Design at Heriot Watt University and has a keen eye for colour. Kayleigh joined the team in June 2022 and travels up on the train with her adorable pup Squid, who is still getting to grips with his shop dog role. Kayleigh enjoys photography and all things social media - the queen of reels shall we say, with a weakness for stationery shopping trips.

  • Flora

Flora graduated in Textile Design at the Glasgow School of Art, specialising in Knit. She is the owner of a domestic Brother knitting machine upon which she creates a range of colourful knitted hats which joined the shop in early 2023, with Flora following in the Spring. Alongside working for Scottish Textiles Showcase, Flora also freelances, producing knitted accessories on her machine. We hope she will be making jumpers before too long!

  • Mary

Our scrupulous bookkeeper Mary has a keen eye for detail and will leave no stone unturned in the quest to resolve the numerical challenges that inevitably come her way each day! An Economics and Accounting graduate from Edinburgh University, Mary joined the Showcase when we first opened at the Tron Kirk in May 2019 having previous experience with a major retailer.

Mary enjoys meeting friends for good coffee, making desserts and holidays in the sunshine.

Willow, Squid & Toto

Kitty’s dog Willow had nine pups in December 2022. Kayleigh is the proud owner of Squid, while Kitty couldn't resist keeping Toto! If you feel like a cuddle with this friendly gang, you will usually find at least one of them in the shop, so do pop in to say hello!
