Kitty
Founder Director of the Scottish Textiles Showcase and designer of our Harris Tweed scarf collection, Kitty has been a long term champion of Made in Scotland. She enjoys sharing her love of textiles with our customers, encouraging us to shop sustainably and consider our carbon footprint. Ellen
Ellen joined Scottish Textiles Showcase in September 2021, a year after graduating from Glasgow School of Art, where she studied Printed Textiles. She now produces a range of printed silk scarves which are available to buy in store. Her designs are influenced by the places she has lived and visited; from the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, to Kyoto, Japan where she spent a term studying. Ellen has a background in visual merchandising so she can often be found rearranging the shop and creating window displays.

Kayleigh
Kayleigh, originally from Darlington, now calls Galashiels home in the Scottish Borders. She specialised in Printed Textile Design at Heriot Watt University and has a keen eye for colour. Kayleigh joined the team in June 2022 and travels up on the train with her adorable pup Squid, who has adapted well to the shop dog role. Kayleigh sews all of our tweed zip bags and coin purses, making sure as much of the fabric is used as possible to reduce waste.

Flora
Flora graduated in Textile Design at the Glasgow School of Art, specialising in Knit. She is the owner of a domestic Brother knitting machine upon which she creates a range of colourful knitted hats which joined the shop in early 2023, with Flora following in the Spring. Alongside working for Scottish Textiles Showcase, Flora also freelances, producing knitted accessories on her machine. We hope she will be making jumpers before too long!

Susan
Susan joined the STS team in September 2024. As the editor of The Journal of Scottish Yarns, she shares our passion for promoting Scottish textiles and telling the stories of mills and makers. After spending 30 years working in financial services, always curious and always knitting, Susan enjoys hanging out with all the wool and answering questions such as ‘why is Scotland famous for cashmere?’

Julie
Julie joined Scottish Textiles Showcase in March 2025 after moving from New York. She specialised in weaving and knitting at Rhode Island School of Design and went on to work collaboratively with Lila’s Mountain Farm, a sheep and flower farm in Massachuessets for two years. When she is not on a farm or in the store, you can find her weaving on her 100 year old loom!

Mary
Our scrupulous bookkeeper Mary has a keen eye for detail and will leave no stone unturned in the quest to resolve the numerical challenges that inevitably come her way each day! An Economics and Accounting graduate from Edinburgh University, Mary joined the Showcase when we first opened at the Tron Kirk in May 2019 having previous experience with a major retailer.
Mary enjoys meeting friends for good coffee, making desserts and holidays in the sunshine.

Willow, Squid & Toto
Kitty’s dog Willow had nine pups in December 2022. Kayleigh is the proud owner of Squid, while Kitty couldn't resist keeping Toto! If you feel like a cuddle with this friendly gang, you will usually find at least one of them in the shop, so do pop in to say hello!
