Harris Tweed Ellen Coat Umber

The Ellen coat in brown umber is made exclusively for Scottish Textiles Showcase by Scottish designer Elizabeth Martin. Made with Harris Tweed®, the coat is double breasted, with neat lapels and a straight cut.

The Harris Tweed in this coat is a myriad of dark brown hues mixed with subtle golds and greens and paired with a champagne lining.

Protected by the 1993 Act of Parliament, Harris Tweed can only be made at the homes of the island weavers living on the Isle of Lewis and Harris. Using traditional methods, the tweed is woven from pure British wool which, unusually, is dyed before being spun so each thread contains a multitude of different colours, producing a cloth of great depth and complexity.
