The Birlinn Yarn Company
Limited edition, Hebridean knitting wool from the Western Isles of Scotland
Meg Rodger started The Birlinn Yarn Company in 2015. Based on the Island of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides, Meg and her family rear pedigree Hebridean sheep with consideration for their beautiful island's ecology and sustainability at the heart of what they do.
Fondly refered to as "Seafaring Sheep'" Meg ensures her flock are given a varied diet in order to obtain a soft yarn for knitting. She transports her flock by boat to feed on the rich Machair found on the neighbouring islands in the Sound of Harris.
