Meet the Maker - Lindsay Girvan

Designer and shepherdess Lindsay Girvan with her flock of Shetland sheep.

Lindsay Girvan is the founder of Future Vintage, a circular knitwear brand shaped by the natural colours, textures, and quiet integrity of Shetland wool. Last month, we were delighted to be invited to visit Lindsay on her farm in the picturesque town of Linlithgow.

Lindsay Girvin's flock of Shetland sheep in a range of colours.

Linday's Scottish knitwear brand is rooted in the rhythms of nature and the heritage of local textile traditions with pieces that honour the past, serve the present, and are designed to be treasured for years to come.  She describes it as a Shepherd’s Wardrobe: clothing made to be worn, lived in, repaired, and passed down. Not treated as precious, but practical, just like the original Shetland Fair Isle and Irish Aran jumpers once were. Knitwear fit for weather, work, and the elements.

Founded in 2023 , her organic farm is based  in Linlithgow where her pedigree Shetland sheep graze freely and their wool is used in every collection. We work slowly, sustainably, and seasonally, creating knitwear that reflects the land, the people, and the stories that shape it.
