Meet The Maker - Mary Macgregor BAKKA
At the end of November we were delighted to host our first Meet the Maker event with Mary Macgregor from BAKKA knitwear. Mary is the face behind the BAKKA range of luxury Fair Isle knitwear, and when not working as a Fair Isle designer and crofter on Shetland she can be found touring the country in her very smart BAKKA van as can be seen below!
Mary was based in our shop for two days, during which time customers could attend our private view or pop into store over the weekend to meet Mary and find out about the inspiration behind her beautiful designs and hear about life as a crofter.
Working with just five traditional colours and using traditional Fair Isle patterns, Mary has created a range of luxury scarves, cowls, headbands, wrist warmers and throws which are knitted in a superfine, sumptuously soft merino wool. Mary's gorgeous accessories continue to be a big hit with our customers, and we can see why.
