OUR FIRST BIRTHDAY!

The Scottish Textiles Showcase was founded just over a year ago on the 17 May 2019, and since then our shop has come a long way in its mission to champion Scottish textiles artisans and wool mills.  

A huge thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way, we couldn't have done it without you!

From the outset our little boutique at the back of the Tron Kirk on Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile has been well received by the many visitors who have passed though the door of the Tron. Many have told us of their delight to find a shop dedicated to selling uniquely Scottish made products and this has given us the confidence to grow.

Of course, as with the majority of companies around the world, everything changed mid March this year and I am writing this blog from my Edinburgh home with the world is a very different place as we fight the global Coronavirus pandemic.  Scotland is still in lockdown and global economies are in a tail spin.  Now more than ever there is a need to support local communities and shop local. Scotland has a long tradition of excellence in craftsmanship skills and we understand the inherent value of the Made in Scotland brand and the importance of provenance in the products we sell. 

The Scottish Textiles Showcase began with just a handful of producers keen to work with us, and this number has gradually increased so we now have products from more than twenty different mills and artisan designers around Scotland.  From our best selling eco blankets to linen scarves, cashmere throws and lace baby blankets we have curated a unique collection of high quality Scottish textiles. We will of course be incorporating more makers and products as we continue to support Scottish artisans and mills. 

We can't wait to get back to the Tron and welcome customers to our store but these are uncertain times and we must wait until that notification comes through. Meanwhile, our website is up and running now, and we are adding more products all the time, so please keep checking for updates!
