Our popular Green Plaid throw is a beautiful combination of greens and purples which are immediately associated with Scottish thistle, heather and moorland landscapes. This is a substantial pure wool throw or blanket, woven in Scotland with wool from New Lanark Mill in Lanarkshire, now a World Heritage site. New Lanark village was founded by David Dale in 1785 as a cotton mill community on the river Clyde and is open to visitors.
For all Harry Potter enthusiasts, New Lanark provided the wool for the scarves and jumpers worn in the original Harry Potter movies!
All of the New Lanark wool is produced to the highest quality on 19th century machinery which is powered by renewable energy generated on site by water-powered turbine, to keep environmental impact to a minimum. New Lanark was the first wool spinning production unit in Scotland to achieve the Soil Association’s organic approval.
New Lanark village was founded by David Dale in 1785 as a cotton mill community on the river Clyde. The famous philanthropist and industrialist Robert Owen became the mill manager in 1800 and was instrumental in its development.
