Made with superfine pure merino wool this luxurious neck cowl or buff is part of our range of traditional Fair Isle designed knitwear from Shetland. Sumptuously soft to touch, the heritage design is based on intricate geometric Shetland patterns and traditional natural colours.
This beautiful cowl is designed at Bakka, a remote coastal croft on Shetland, and great care is taken to produce each individual cowl to the highest standard with finished seams and selvedges as can be seen in the close up images. The seam at the back is hardly visible.
Fair Isle is a name given to the patterns and designs used by knitters in the northern Shetland isles region of Scotland. These designs are now on display in local museums and are in danger of dying out so they have been used here as the source of inspiration for a contemporary modern day scarf made with the finest merino wool.
