Katherine Cowtan
Katherine Cowtan is an artist and hand weaver based in rural Stirlingshire.
Katherine is motivated by colour and a love of the countryside. She enjoys the variety of colours and textures of the ever-changing weather and seasons in the local landscapes around her home. Both her practices of weaving and painting are interconnected, each informing the other.
Katherine’s designs come to life on her hand loom using traditional weave structures, techniques and natural materials. She then works closely with Scottish mills who weave small scale production runs to produce her scarf collections while still retaining the beauty of her handwoven designs.
